Editorial Standards for our vacation rental news
The Nightly Rate publishes daily vacation rental news for hosts, property managers and the wider short-term rental industry. These are the standards the desk holds itself to, and what you can expect from every story we run.
Accuracy
We aim to describe developments precisely and without exaggeration. Where a claim is contested or comes from a single interested party, we say so in the piece rather than presenting it as settled fact.
Context over noise
Every story is written for operators, so we lead with what actually changes for a host or manager - the rule, the fee, the date, the market. Numbers are given with the period they cover and the body that produced them.
Corrections
If we publish something that turns out to be wrong, we fix it in place and add a dated correction note at the foot of the article describing what changed. Material errors also trigger an editor’s note at the top of the piece. We do not silently rewrite published stories.
Ownership, funding and conflicts of interest
The Nightly Rate is published and funded by Lodgify, a vacation rental management software company. Nobody else pays for coverage: sponsored and editorial content are never mixed, and no advertiser or platform can buy, alter or block a story.
Stories that concern Lodgify repeat that disclosure inside the piece, and we do not cover competing property-management systems or channel managers - so our view of that software category is deliberately incomplete.
How stories are produced
The desk monitors regulator agendas, court filings, platform announcements, earnings material and industry reporting, with automated tooling used for monitoring and first drafts. Every story is held to the standards on this page before it publishes.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment to publish, alter or remove coverage.
- We do not publish rumour, speculation dressed as fact, or unverified leaks.
- We do not invent sources, quotes, testing, credentials or data.
- We do not publish multiple near-identical stories on one event; a developing story is updated in place.
